Gauteng MEC for roads and transport, Ismail Vadi, will launch a R230-million road rehabilitation project on the R28 tomorrow (Tuesday).
The road project aims to improve vehicle and pedestrian safety, travel time and create job opportunities, according to the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport (GPDRT).
The rehabilitation will include the restoration of road markings and signage as well as the construction of a new drainage structure over approximately a 30-kilometre stretch of road.
GPDRT spokesperson Melitah Madiba told FTW Online that the R28 provided a bypass from Johannesburg to the North West Province as it was located in the South-West of Johannesburg, between the Golden Highway and the N12.
