Opening a gateway into
East Africa, Speedspace,
the supplier of temporary
mobile accommodation
units and standard and
custom-converted shipping
containers, has opened an
office in Tanzania.
“It gives us good access
to East Africa, while at
the same time having
fairly strong mining and
construction sectors in its
own right,” said director
of Speedspace SA, Barron
Charsley.
“Tanzania presents some
opportunities for us in the
oil and gas sector, as well as
graphite, coal, agriculture
and gold mining. With
Tanzanian GDP projected
at around 7% for 2017 we
are hoping to hit the ground
running.”
And it’s only the first of
a number of new African
offices being opened by
Speedspace – trading on the
continent as Ufudu. And
that, Charsley told FTW,
was a suitable title, being
the Zulu word for ‘tortoise’ –
“which has a mobile home,”
he added.
Tanzania joins the
established bases for the
company in SA, Botswana
and Zambia. “At this stage,”
said Charsley, “we are trying
to stick to the Anglophone
countries in East and
southern Africa, where we
eliminate language as an
entry barrier.
