The South African logistics industry is not investing enough in skills development, says Paul Brooks, international president of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
“There is no sustainably without skills and this applies to every sector of logistics,” he said during an interview with FTW Online on the side lines of the AfricaRail 2016 Conference and Exhibition.
He suggested that logistics industry leaders invest in labour and skills development even when the economy is tough.
“The concern is that the logistics industry is short-sighted,” he said. “The economy is tough but the challenge is to invest in labour instead of shedding it.”
