Intent on further strengthening its presence in the UK, Distell has acquired a significant stake in wine distributor, BrandPhoenix, owner of FirstCape, the South African wine brand listed third in the UK retail market. Carina Gous, who heads the Distell wine business division, says by investing in BrandPhoenix with its balanced portfolio of international wine brands, backed by strong marketing, sales and logistics skills, Distell is confident it can advance the joint footprint in the UK. BrandPhoenix director, Greg Wilkins, says Distell brings to the portfolio premium quality brands such as Nederburg, Two Oceans and J C le Roux sparkling wines. Distell is the tenth largest wine marketer worldwide, trading on every continent. As part of its global expansion, the company is establishing strong trade and distribution networks in many parts of the world.
